Happy February!

First things first, since only two people left comments for the magazine, I will send you both a subscription. I'll also check to see if I have another activity log. I just might have one in the bottom of my drawer. So, Lisa, can you please email me your mailing address? I already have Lindsay's. My email is: forloveoffood@hotmail.com

Second, I apologize for the lack of recipes. I am in a food slump. Big Time. We are eating the same old same old every day. I have to be honest and say that my family probably hates it, but I like it! I have not been very hungry--don't know why. When I am not hungry I cannot think of what to cook, so I just print off old menus and go with that. Hopefully I will find some new motivation soon.

Third, today was the beginning of the serious training for the CM 1/2 marathon. That counter is ticking down way too fast! Each week I am going to post my training schedule and then report how I did at the end of the week. I need you to really let me have it if I slack off! Last year I finished, but did not improve my time because I trained lazy. No lazy this year! Keep me accountable. Please.

Ok, here is my schedule for the first week.

Monday--Easy run 30 minutes. (check! I did it today. I even managed to run 27 of those 30 minutes, but walked across the icy spots on the road. No need to break anything at the very beginning.)
Tuesday--Speed work, Strength training (I may skip the strength training since I broke up and shoveled ice for an hour today. I still have a section left for tomorrow, That counts, right?)
Wednesday--Rest day
Thursday--Easy run 30 minutes
Friday--Strength training and Cross training (bike, uhg!)
Saturday--Long Run (only 3 miles the first week, which I am close to when I run for 30 minutes, so my goal is to do it without stopping)
Sunday--Rest day

Fitness Magazine

One of my lovely sisters gifted me a year of Fitness Magazine and after browsing it, I want to pass on the favor. The first issue that showed up in my mailbox is full of great articles--real exercises that I can do at home (3 different workouts), the psychological reasons we can't lose the weight, calorie cutting substitutions, the research on certain "diet" pills, a review of the top 10 work out DVDs, lots of recipes, and other stuff.
So if you are interested in a free year's subscription of Fitness and my last Activity Log, simply post a comment below. I'll randomly choose a winner on February 1st. Be prepared to email me your address so I can send you the activity log and get your magazine heading to you.

Last 2 Days--Give Away!--Ends June 6th

It is the last 2 days to post your entry comment. Thank you to those who posted. :)

In conjunction with the changes that I am making on the blog, I am giving away an Activity Log and key pouch for running. I picked both of these nifty items up at my last race, courtesy of Publix Grocery Stores.I've been using one of these since January and it is a huge help to see what you have accomplished. It is also a kick in the pants when I see big blank pages where I have been lazy. To the left of the day, I also put tally marks for glasses of water and a star for my multi-vitamin. The best thing about this activity log is that you can start on the very day you get it. There are no pre-labeled days. If you get it in June you can go June-June, so no excuses to put off tracking what you are really doing. It can be a real eye opener!

All you have to do is post a comment on this entry with your favorite form of exercise and why you enjoy it so much...OR the type of exercise you want to learn to enjoy. Deadline for entries is Saturday June 6th.
