Pitty Pat's Porch and my cupboard

Since my cooking is very basic this week, I thought I would share some of my fun weekend with you. We got pretty silly at one point (and it would have shocked some people to know that we don't drink!). Anyway, my mom remembered a restaurant that was in downtown Atlanta called Pitty Pat's Porch, and she really wanted to go eat there.

We found the address in the phone book, plugged it into the GPS and headed into the evening rush hour traffic. It took a while to get there, but we found a parking lot and then walked until we found the restaurant. I have to admit that I was a little concerned because the place was OLD, I mean running down a bit, and almost empty. Now that I've said that I should not say the next part, but I will anyway. My mom says it has been there as long as I've been alive.

We sat down, looked at the sparse menu and made our choices. The food was excellent! Don't let the empty room scare you off. There are lots of trendy hip restaurants that we passed along the way, but I'm very glad we ate at Pitty Pat's Porch. It was like stepping back into a more leisurely and genteel time.

I'm all red and splotchy here, but my mom is cute!

Today I decided to fix my cookbook cupboard. This is what it had turned into: a dumping spot for anything on the counter. Who wants to cook when they have to dig through everything to find a cookbook? I also didn't have any room for my new ones. Doesn't it look nice now? I put the books I rarely use up on the top shelf. I have a lot of those little cookbooks that you get with various kitchen appliances and lots from Relief Society's that I've been in over the years. Eventually I will put all the recipes from those that I use into my cute little box so I can have more space. :)

If you are wondering about the Mummies box on the top shelf I just didn't know where else to put it. It was a fun activity we did with our kids when we were learning about Egypt. I have a hard time throwing things away.

Sometimes those really are the best restaurants.

Loved seeing a pic of your mom. :)

Will you come over and organize my cookbook cabinet for me?
