Well, I have to say that every meal this week has been pretty thrifty. Christmas is getting closer every day and with four kids to shop for we start saving (and buying) in September. Here is the break down of the meals Monday-Wednesday. You can't eat out for these prices!
Our Monday meal was Chicken and Rice at a cost of $9.25 for our family of six! Not bad. Wait, I also made a small pan that I gave to a neighbor, so that $9 fed eight! I only used half of the bag of chicken so $3.50, about $0.75 worth of rice, a $3 bag of salad and $2 for the cheese.
Tuesday we had Nachos/Taco Salads for a total cost of $6.00 We start with a $2 bag of chips, can of refried beans that is $1, one tomato $1, $0.50 can of corn, about 1/4 head of lettuce so let's say $0.50, and finally about $0.50 of sour cream. Wish we had had salsa, but oh well.
Last night we had another kid friendly meal. My husband had a late meeting so the five of us had breakfast for five at a cost of $6.25. This time my six year old helped cook. $2 bag of hash browns, $2 of turkey link sausage, $1 worth of eggs and a can of big biscuits for $1.25. We scrambled some eggs that we put on biscuits (the yummy big buttery ones--definitely not healthy ones) had hash browns and Jimmy Dean Turkey sausage links. I forgot to take a picture of the finished meal, but you all know what an egg sandwich looks like anyway.

He kept asking for more ketchup on his hash browns.
