I mentioned the first week of January that I was starting to run again after taking a few months off...and there has been silence on the subject ever since. Well, I want you to know that I have been doing something, even if it does not feel like much, so here is my report for January.
Week 1--Ran 3 times (2 miles each), one day strength training--This was a great start!
Week 2--Ran 2 miles, Biked 2 miles, one day strength training--Not too bad, but I had hoped to start upping miles this week.
Week 3--Ran 2 times, (2 miles each)--disappointing
This week--walked/jogged 2 miles with my 3 year old on his bike, ran/walked 3 miles today. So far so good.
My goal for the rest of the week?
Run 2 miles tomorrow without stopping
Walk/jog 2 miles with son on Thursday
Friday--strength training
Saturday--Run 3 miles
All I can say is if you are in a regular exercise routine, whether it is running, walking, biking, swimming, whatever, DO NOT STOP! It is so hard to get moving again. Unfortunately, I took October, November and December off. That includes two of the biggest eating months of the year, and I gained a few pounds. January and February are the two coldest months here in North Carolina and usually the time that everyone gets sick. So it is possible that I am going to catch something and be knocked out again.
My son is currently sick, and has been since Sunday night. I am determined not to get whatever he has so even though I am feeling sloggy and a little weak, I made myself get out yesterday and today. I'm hoping that trying to eat well and keep my body moving will keep me one step ahead of that pesky GI Bug.
So, I'm not giving up or giving in. Each day is a new chance to take charge and make myself who I want to be.
