Make the Time

Cooking has sort of taken a back seat in my life for a while. Don't worry, I still feed my family every day, but I am making them eat more of the left overs than usual. At the end of August, I read a post on Hoontah, a fellow writer. In case I have never mentioned it on this blog--I'm a want to be writer. Have been my whole life, but recently (about a year ago) I decided to get serious about it--remember Nanowrimo?

Anyway, she replied to a question that I posted on her blog. My question was, "How do you find the time to write?" Her reply was witty and humorous and I took it to heart and have been "making the time" to write ever since. That has meant some things had to fall by the wayside--regular blogging being one of them.

Today I was thinking about my running efforts and how sometimes they are really good, but at other times I just can't find the time to do it. It is just like my writing:

"If you are a mother and a writer then you have to make the time to write everyday. Because nobody is going to give it to you. I guarantee it. That means a lot of other things in your life have to go."

It is the same with running (and I think with most things in life that we want but never seem to get to). No matter how many times I go to bed and say, "Push me out of bed in the morning, because I really need to run." My husband is never going to do that. If I wait past 6:30 am, then there will not be a time for me to run. It is up to me to make myself get up and run early in the morning, no one else can do it for me.

I enjoyed a wonderful run this morning. The fall weather is perfect, and I found myself running the entire 3.5 miles without stopping. I haven't done that in a while, and now I have done it two runs in a row. That means I'm ready to up the miles again. Slow and steady, but I'm making the time to do it!

What motivates you to get up early or go out late and run?
