Well, I'm back from camp. It was awesome! We had all of our meals prepared for us (all but one anyway) and they were all delicious. I did a really good job of not over eating, and then I was on my feet all week long.
My favorite part was our hike. I gave my friend Julie a hard time about it because it was straight up for about a mile or so and then we got to turn around. It was supposed to be 3 miles, but because it was so steep they fudged a little on the distance. It was a great workout though and I really enjoyed it. I even did quite a bit of running up and down between the front of the line of girls and those at the back. I think I liked it because I could do something that hard without needing to go to the emergency room. :) My body felt good and strong, and I just love being outdoors anyway.
We also did a lot of dancing in the evening. Well, I could have gone for more than we did. It was so much fun to spend that time just having fun with the girls. I'm not a very coordinated fast dancer, but I tried my best to learn the Hoe Down Throw Down and the other two camp dances and had a great time.
What did I learn health wise this week? I learned that portion control and staying busy is as good as regular exercise and calorie counting. I didn't have a lot of control over what I ate (they were really good about providing fruit and salads) but I could be good and not over eat. That is what usually happens when I don't have to cook or clean up after it. All in all it was a great week. I weighed myself before and after and actually lost a pound.
Tomorrow I'll share our dutch oven meal. I wish I had taken pictures of it. We definitely had the yummiest meal cooked over the fire!
