2 more days!

Ok, I do have another meal to post, but I've been busy getting ready for Saturday. Translation--I'm so excited I can't concentrate on anything for very long before I start thinking about the race again. As I was going to sleep last night I kept going over the race course in my mind and planning where I wanted to run slow and easy and where I wanted to kick it up a bit. I really want to improve on last years time and I have been trying to do speed work in my training. I feel really good about the efforts I have made in training this year. It could have been better, but what I did was good.

I did four miles on Monday and another four last night. I plan on doing two miles tomorrow. This year is going to be awesome because two of my sister-in-laws are going to run with us. I've also heard of several childhood friends who will be there. I hope we can all meet up at some point, but with 35,000 runners I'm not counting on it.

I also bought some new gear this week. I've seen the running skirts but never gave them much thought until my shorts started giving me problems. I have unfortunately put on about 10 lbs since I bought my shorts a year ago. That is why I am NOT GOING to STOP running after the 1/2 marathon this year. (I am finally in a downward weight trend again and I don't want to mess that up.) Anyway...my shorts were riding up and rubbing my thighs in an uncomfortable way. I decided that I could not run the half with them doing that the whole time. So I went and purchased a running skort.
I ran in it last night and I have to say I loved it. Why did I wait so long to give it a try? I did still wear my compression shorts under it even though it has built in shorts. I didn't want to be self conscience about how short they felt. It was much better than my old shorts and now I feel like I am ready to go! Of course the tiny little bit of fashion in me says that I now need a shirt to match because it has a pale pink and a red stripe down the side. It doesn't match my bright yellow shirt. :) I couldn't find a skirt with a yellow stripe.

There will be a live webcast of the race on Saturday, April 25. You can watch it Here. I've tried to describe how amazing this race feels to some of my friends and have never quite succeeded. There is just something about running with so many people and having the whole course lined with people cheering you on. Check it out starting at 8am US-Eastern time. Last year it was an hour after the gun before we even crossed the starting line. That's how many people there are!

YAY!!!! I'm so excited too! I love your new running skort. I've been wanting one but haven't gotten one yet.

We would love to try to meet up if at all possible (I know it's going to be a madhouse!). We are planning to be at the Expo around 2:00 to pick up our packets. When will you guys be there? We have a whole Mormon battalian running with us--friends from AL, Chattanooga, and M'boro. :)

What pace are you running?

Man, I guess I should have just emailed you. :)

:) I have Meghan's cell phone number. Maybe we can all say hi before the race starts. I'm hoping to hold a 10 minute pace, but I'll probably slow a bit by the end.

I'm just so excited! :) I think this is my favorite race ever because it is such a rush.
