The truth is I had reached a good place in my quest for a healthier life. My husband and I joined Metabolic Research Center and lost a little over 20 lbs each in 2013.
It was wonderful. I've never felt so good. We were eating healthy and exercising. For the first time I LOVED running. Before I enjoyed it, but mostly I liked how I felt when I was Charity Bradfordhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01960821077619680661noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3665954631731586777.post-11111120456350377142014-11-01T16:21:00.002-04:002014-11-01T16:21:20.959-04:00Nanowrimo and My Newest Novel
Today is November 1st!
That means National Novel Writing Month (Nano for short) has started. Some of you may know that my first published novel, THE MAGIC WAKES, started as a Nano project in 2008. This year I'm continuing to edit the second novel in the series AND get the third one drafted for Nano. Wish me luck!
As if that wasn't enough to keep me busy, I'm actively working to Charity Bradfordhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01960821077619680661noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3665954631731586777.post-92033884109645811232013-08-13T10:00:00.000-04:002013-08-13T10:00:03.502-04:00I survived 3 weeks of vacation!Shortly after my last post I headed to TN for a two week vacation to visit family. Usually going home is easy because I still do the cooking. However, my mom had just moved homes and schools. This meant we were very busy helping her get things done and we often didn't have time to cook. Or go home between things. There was also a lot of fun stuff too, not just work. We shopped almost the entire Charity Bradfordhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01960821077619680661noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3665954631731586777.post-91683711454356773602013-07-19T19:06:00.001-04:002013-07-19T19:06:04.976-04:00Mid-July 2013 Check InI'm still computer-less and I wonder if that's helping me lose weight. As of today I'm 1/2 a pound from the 20 pound loss benchmark. That's two thirds of the way to my goal.
The exciting part is I'm feeling better, lighter, healthier. The other day I felt the NEED to go for a run. It wasn't "I should go for a run" it was "I want to go for a run". And I did. I ran two miles before stopping to Charity Bradfordhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01960821077619680661noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3665954631731586777.post-91258208512789571402013-06-24T12:01:00.003-04:002013-06-24T12:11:20.120-04:00Emotional EatingWow! It's been a long time since I checked in. Hubby and I are still doing well with the weight loss program. I've started going to some of their connection classes and learning some fun things.
For example, we went to the emotional eating class last week. Now, even though we had a lot of laughs at some of the things, there were very helpful tips as well. Here's two we laughed at:

Considering how crummy I've felt this week I didn't expect much. In fact, I thought I gained weight for sure. You see, I kind of cheated.
My sinuses have been really bad. Can't breathe, can't swallow, drowning in mucus. Yeah, not pretty. And I wanted comfort. Comfort in the form of something really yummy. So I ate a few little things that were notCharity Bradfordhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01960821077619680661noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3665954631731586777.post-19297736935296810812013-05-17T15:34:00.000-04:002013-05-17T15:34:19.565-04:00Way more food than I can eat!Hubby and I have been doing the MRC meal plans for 14 days now (that includes the first week that is just a work you into it kind of thing). 8 days in we had both lost 6.5 pounds!
There have been days that I wanted to scream because I couldn't eat something I wanted. Something that my kids were eating right in front of me. What you might ask?

A few months ago I decided to resign myself to being overweight, tired and old looking. It was just too much work and I didn't feel like I had the support to stay strong. Plus life was VERY stressful with a move and book release.
However...
Changes are coming, and this time they are for the good.

The good news is I didn't GAIN any weight over December. Yay!
Tomorrow starts the official training for the 1/2 marathon hubby and I signed up for. The sporadic running and exercising of December was an effort to make this week not quite so hard. It doesn't look like much, Charity Bradfordhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01960821077619680661noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3665954631731586777.post-6035740306625440042012-12-17T23:06:00.001-05:002012-12-17T23:06:01.756-05:00Week 4

Again.
We've recently moved, so it's a new house, new town, and a new state of mind. Right?
There's no better time than now to start. Plus, I haven't been running in over a year. I really miss it and want to start up again. The Country Music 1/2 is in 5 months and I think I can be ready.
Here's the plan for the week:
Monday--Cardio Step 8:45 AM
Tuesday--Treadmill 8:00 AM, Charity Bradfordhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01960821077619680661noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3665954631731586777.post-1672804784668227032012-08-16T08:44:00.000-04:002012-08-16T08:44:04.615-04:00FrustratedWell, after a week of running the kitchen at camp, and a week of travel after that, I managed to gain back the 4lbs I had lost.
It's very frustrating. And what do I do when I get frustrated? I eat!
I'm finally home and ready to get back on track. Today I'll shop for groceries, get the laundry done, plan "back to school shopping", and plan my exercise routines for next week. The kids don't go Charity Bradfordhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01960821077619680661noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3665954631731586777.post-50006821756231001822012-07-13T10:22:00.002-04:002012-07-13T10:22:44.691-04:00Fit Days July 12-13I'm really enjoying these workouts, especially now that I've learned how to switch out the ones with equipment that I don't own. Each exercise has several listed that work the same muscles, so I just substitute ones that don't require machines or other stuff I don't have.
The work out still take about 30 minutes to do, and I'm still "aware" of certain body areas for the day or two afterward. Charity Bradfordhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01960821077619680661noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3665954631731586777.post-14532848585987858812012-07-11T07:27:00.002-04:002012-07-11T07:27:55.693-04:00Fit Days 7-11So far the hardest part about this workout routine is the reporting. :) The exercises are easy enough for me to do from home, and if anything pops up that I don't have equipment for I just substitute a different one that hits the same muscles. Every day I'm aware of a different body part. There have been a few that I don't think I ever used before this workout.
Last week I lost 1 pound. That's Charity Bradfordhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01960821077619680661noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3665954631731586777.post-40628325543313493792012-07-06T15:15:00.001-04:002012-07-06T15:15:43.291-04:00Fit day July 5th & 6thI skipped my workout on July 4th in favor of sleeping in and then enjoying the day with family.
Then I was down right lazy on day 5, so today I did both workouts minus the running. I really need to get up earlier when it isn't so hot outside so I can start running again.
I'm still using 3 lb and 5 lb weights. 5 as much as I can, and 3 when I don't know if I can lift my arms any more.
Day 5--
